Description
Nos 113 and 114 Duke Street are a pair of cottages dating from the 17th century or earlier and the 18th century. They are built with a timber frame encased in brick and have a thatched roof. The cottages consist of four bays, with a 20th-century set-back bay added to the right. They are 1½ storeys high and sit on a plinth. The two inner bays feature 19th-century three-light casements with camber heads, while the left bay has a similar two-light casement. The second bay from the right has a 20th-century door with a cambered head, and the right bay has a copied window. There are three eyebrow dormers, each with two-light casements. The roof is half-hipped, with a ridge piece and a ridge stack located between the cottages. Inside the left end bay of 113, there are heavy chamfered and stopped floor beams and joists.
