BROUGHTON HIGH STREET (east side) SU 3033 10/23 The Old Malt House Hann's Cottage and Linden Cottage

GV II

Row of cottages, formerly maltings. Late C18 and early C19. Brick, centre cottage rendered, old plain tile roof. 2 storey, each 2 irregular bays. To left (The Old Malt House) has in left bay C18 planked door under wide flat hood, above half-glazed double doors, originally a loading bay. To right 2-light casement. Near each end small casement. All with rubbed brick heads. Central part (Horns) has to left of centre 6-panel door under gabled hood, and at right end similar garden door, each side wide 6-pane sash. 1st floor string course and 2 wide 6-pane sashes. Right cottage (Linden) has to right 6-panel door under flat hood, to left 16-pane sash. Above wide 12-pane sash and 2-light casement. Dentilled eaves throughout. Roof hipped to right with rear wing. Ridge stacks between right 2 cottages and in centre over door.
