Description

The Old Manse is a house with a 17th-century core, substantially refronted in the 18th century and altered in the 20th. The house has a timber-frame structure encased in brick, which is rendered and decorated with incised lines. It is two storeys high and three bays wide, with a projection to the rear. A six-panel, top-lit door is located to the left of centre, set within a solid frame topped by flat, moulded brackets and timber posts. Above the door is a bullseye window. On the left side of the house, there are 18th-century 16-pane sash windows on both floors. The end bays on both floors contain 19th- and 20th-century tripartite sash windows. The half-hipped roof has ridge stacks to the left of the door and at the right end, along with a further stack behind the ridge in the centre.
