Description
No. 34 St Margaret's Street is a former shop with a workshop above, which was vacant during the 1989 re-survey. It may have originally been a house. The building dates from the late 17th century and has been significantly altered in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is timber-framed and weatherboarded throughout, topped with a Kent-tile gable-end roof. The structure is aligned end-on to the street and consists of two storeys with a low attic.
The front features a single-window range, with both the first and attic floors jettied. There is an 8-pane Yorkshire sash window on the first floor, and a 4-light shop window on a panelled plinth, which may date from the mid-19th century. To the right, there is a half-glazed door. The right return of the building has two Yorkshire sash windows on the first floor, one of which retains all its original glazing bars, along with a door.
