Description

No. 50 is a house located on St Margaret's Street, dating from the early 19th century, possibly incorporating some late 17th century work. It is constructed of stone brick and features Kent-tile gable-end roofs with end stacks. The house has a 2½ storey symmetrical front with a three-window range. The front includes a cement rendered parapet and a cornice band with brick triglyphs. The windows are all hornless sashes set in revealed frames, with the first and upper half storey under flat window arches, featuring 12 and 6 panes respectively.

Flanking the central doorway are tripartite sash windows with a configuration of 4:12:4 sashes under segmental arches, which have reeded frames and fluted stucco fans. The doorcase is adorned with fluted pilasters, a frieze, and a canopy, and it features a half-glazed door. At the rear, there is a storeyed canted bay and a small storeyed wing with a hipped roof and Yorkshire sash windows.

In front of the house, there is a brick garden wall that faces St Margaret's Street, with brick coping that ramps up to the end piers. These piers are square-section gatepiers topped with stone and stucco.
