Description

Grayling House is a house from the 18th century located on Rochester St Margaret's Street. It is constructed of brick, which is painted and rendered, and features a Kent-tile mansard roof. The building has a double-depth plan with stacks at the ends and in the valley between the roofs that run parallel to the street. It stands three storeys tall with an attic.

The front of the house is painted and has a regular two-window arrangement. There are two dormers that contain 4-pane sash windows. The eaves feature a dentil cornice. The windows are hornless sashes set in reveals under flat window arches, with nine panes on the second floor and twelve panes on the other floors. To the right of the front is a doorway that has a decorative surround, a canopy supported by shaped brackets, and panelled reveals, with a door that has a rectangular overlight above it. The left side of the house is rendered and does not have any windows. At the rear, there is a three-window range with 12-pane sash windows and two dormers, along with a small extension on the ground floor. The interior has not been inspected.
