Description

This is a pair of late 18th and early 19th century houses on St Margaret's Street, Rochester. They are built of brick and feature gable-end roofs; the roof at number 23 has Kent tiles, while the roof at number 25 has renewed tiles, forming a catslide over an outshut. The houses have a single-depth plan with an integral outshut. They are two and a half storeys high with a three-window front (a 1:2 arrangement).

Number 23 has a Yorkshire sash window with 8 panes to the upper half storey, and 16-pane sashes to the first and ground floors, all set within elliptical painted window arches. It has a recessed panelled front door protected by a simple canopy supported by brackets extending from the catslide. Number 25 has sash windows, set within reveals, with 6 panes to the upper half storey and 4-pane, horned windows to the first and ground floors, also under elliptical window arches. The left-hand doorway is similar to that of number 23. A plaque related to insurance is visible on number 23. A rear stack is present at number 23, and a right-hand end stack is present at number 25.
