Description

An early 19th century house with a shop, located on St Margaret’s Street, Rochester. The building is constructed of gault brick, with a Welsh slate hipped roof. It has a double-depth plan and lateral and rear stacks. The house is three storeys high and features a regular two-window front, topped with a parapet incorporating stone coping and a cornice band. The windows are 12-pane hornless sashes set in reveals beneath flat window arches. Three large S-ties are visible. A plate glass shop window, with an off-centre entrance flanked by pilasters and a panelled plinth, occupies the front. The right return shows the outline of a demolished adjacent building and contains hornless sash windows, along with a simple side entrance. The left return also features sash windows, some of which are blank.
