Description
No. 6 Belvedere Street is a building located on a corner site with Wood Street, dating from around 1840. It has two storeys and a basement, with a cement-rendered exterior featuring coursing. The building is flanked by wrap-around pilaster strips on a plinth and has a string course between the storeys. The low-pitched hipped slate roof has overhanging eaves.
There are three windows on the front: two are blind on the first floor and one is blind on the ground floor. The windows are recessed, sash style with glazing bars and block sills. The central door is recessed and consists of four fielded panels, two of which are glazed, topped by a rectangular fanlight with four glazing bars. The door features chamfered reveals and a plain stucco surround, set within an enclosed porch that has Tuscan pilasters at the front and on the wall, with a frieze and cornice above.
In front of the porch, there is a cast iron spearhead gate with a scrolled panel. The south front on Wood Street includes four windows, with an added eastern bay designed in a similar style. The flanking pilaster strips and string course between the storeys continue here. There is a shallow bow window in the center, with recessed sash windows that have intact glazing bars, except in the eastern bay, and block sills. The basement features casement windows.
