Description
No 36 on Dover Street is a building dating from around 1830. It has two storeys and a basement, with a cement-rendered exterior. The facade features flanking pilasters, a stucco parapet, a moulded cornice, a band between the storeys, and a plinth. The gable end roof is covered with slate. There are four windows, two of which are in a bow shape on the south side, extending through both storeys with the parapet wrapping around them. The windows are recessed and are sash types without glazing bars, except for those in the basement, which have block sills. The entrance has a recessed door with three fielded panels and a semi-circular fanlight that includes radial glazing bars, all set within a plain surround. A flight of four steps leads up to the door, which is complemented by a plain cast iron balustrade. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 34 to 38 (even) and No 1 Wood Street.
