Description
19 and 20 Melville Street are semi-detached houses built around 1840. They are three storeys high and have a cement-rendered exterior with a plinth. The low-pitched hipped slate roof features projecting eaves. Each house has two windows, one of which is blind, along with a blind centre window. The windows are recessed sash types, with some glazing bars still intact and block sills. There are single-storey side entrances with modern recessed doors that retain semi-circular fanlights with radial swagged glazing bars. On the north garden front, the ground and first floors have wood frame balconies with tent roofs, supported by lattice piers and spandrels that frame arched bays. The second floor has recessed sash windows with intact glazing bars. Nos 14 to 20 Melville Street form a group.
