Description
25 and 26 Melville Street are semi-detached houses built around 1830 to 1840. They are two storeys high with a basement and are faced with stucco. The roofs are double hipped with slate, featuring hipped ends at the front and wide eaves. The buildings have a plain frieze and plinth. Each house has one recessed sash window with intact glazing bars, except for the first floor of No 25, which has block sills. There are lower two-storey entrance bays on each side, each with lean-to roofs and a small window at the front.
The north garden front facing Bellevue Road is similar to the main front but includes two dormers with glazed sides and casement windows. This side also features a first-floor sill course, and the windows have architrave surrounds with intact glazing bars. The first-floor windows are adorned with scrolled iron balconies. The entrance bays have recessed glazed and panelled doors.
Nos 25 to 28 Melville Street, along with No 1 Trinity Street, form a group of buildings.
