Description
No. 63 George Street is a building dating from around 1830. It has two storeys and a basement on the north side due to the sloping site. The exterior is cement rendered, with a gable end slate roof. The eaves are hidden by a parapet and a moulded cornice, and the front is flanked by pilaster strips on a plinth.
On the first floor, there are three windows: to the right, a bay of three lights with sash windows and glazing bars, fluted pilaster strips, a panelled apron, and a frieze that projects to the side before returning to the main cornice. The centre window is blind, while the left-hand window is recessed with a sash and glazing bars, featuring a block sill.
On the ground floor, the left side has a recessed tripartite window with sash windows and glazing bars, also with a block sill. To the right, there is a large recessed window with sash and later glazing bars, flanked by paired Doric pilasters and topped with a block cornice. The central entrance features a recessed panelled door with two lights, moulded reveals, and a moulded arch with a keystone and a blind lunette above.
