Description

46 and 48 George Street is one of the earliest houses in the center of Ryde, dating from around 1780. This L-shaped house has two storeys and an attic, featuring three windows and two dormers. It is constructed of red brick with grey headers and has a wooden cornice and a tiled roof. The glazing bars are missing. The house has been altered by the addition of a porch, above which is a jettied first floor that resembles a box, with the lower half made of wood and the upper half of stained glass. The main part of the house is No 48, while the west wing at the back is No 46.
