Description
No. 45 George Street is a mid-19th century building that stands three storeys tall and is faced with stucco on a shallow plinth. It has a low-pitched hipped slate roof with projecting eaves. The second floor features two recessed sash windows with later glazing bars and block sills supported by consoles, flanked by pilasters.
On the first floor, the left window resembles those above but has chamfered edges on the pilasters, along with a frieze and dentil cornice. The right window is a flat-fronted bow with three lights, also with later glazing bars, pilasters, and a stepped dentil cornice that slightly projects forward. It has a broad moulded sill on consoles.
The ground floor includes a centrally located recessed tripartite sash window without glazing bars, featuring a block sill on consoles and an end surround with a vermiculated double keystone. There are doorways on the left and right; the left doorway has deeply recessed panelled and glazed doors with a semi-circular fanlight, flanked by chamfered pilasters that are flush with the wall, and a moulded arch with a keystone above. The right doorway is a recessed round-headed entrance with a plank door and a blind semi-circular fanlight.
No. 45 forms part of a group with Nos. 25 and 27, as well as Nos. 47.
