Description
19 and 21 George Street are a pair of houses built around 1840. They are three storeys high and finished in stucco, featuring a cornice and parapet. Each house is flanked by Tuscan pilasters above a rusticated ground floor. Both houses have one window each on the upper floors. On the second floor, No 19 has a recessed sash window that is paired, while No 21 has a tripartite sash window with intact glazing bars. The first floor features bay windows with three lights and sash windows, with pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice; No 21 has intact glazing bars. There are later iron balconies on both houses. No 19 has a modern shop front, whereas No 21 retains its ground floor window with glazing bars and a recessed panelled door topped with a semi-circular fanlight. Nos 17 to 21 (odd) form a group.
