Description
34-36 St Anne Street is a pair of houses built in the early 19th century. No. 36 was altered in the mid-19th century. The buildings are made of stucco and have a slate roof. They each have three storeys and a basement, with three bays. The ground floor features channelled rustication. There is a sill band on the first floor and a cornice at the top. The windows are mostly sashed, except for the ground floor of No. 34, which has casements and one blind window on the second floor.
The entrance to No. 34 is round-headed and has a Doric doorcase, with a frieze decorated with busts, the Prince of Wales feathers, and a lion. No. 36 features mid-19th century Italianate stucco details, including a large tripartite cambered head window on the ground floor, and three architrave surrounds on both the first and second floors, with alternate triangular and segmental pediments above the first floor openings. There is also a large stuccoed doorcase with a deep segmental pediment. The party wall between the two properties is marked by rustication.
