Description
12 George Street is a three-storey building dating from around 1840, constructed of painted brick. It features rendered pilaster strips on either side and banded rustication on the first floor. The building has a parapet with coping and bands separating the storeys, along with a plinth.
The second floor has a single recessed sash window with later glazing bars, a block sill, and a lintel above. The first floor includes a bay window with three lights, also sash, but without glazing bars, flanked by pilasters, and topped with a frieze and cornice, along with a plain apron and plinth. The ground floor has a tripartite sash window, again without glazing bars, featuring a flat brick arch with a keystone.
The entrance is deeply recessed, accessed by three steps, and has a four-panelled door with two glazed panels and a rectangular fanlight above. The entrance is framed by a plain stucco surround.
This building is part of a group with Nos 10 to 20 (even).
