Description

Holmleigh is a villa dating to circa 1840. It is stucco faced and flanked by pilasters on a plinth. A stepped sill course runs along the first floor. The roof is slate, with a low pitch and wide eaves. The first floor has three windows, the central one being blind and recessed with intact glazing bars in a sash window. Small cast iron scrolled balconies are present, featuring a lead rosette where the scrolls intersect. On the ground floor, two wood-frame bay windows have three lights, sash windows with later glazing bars, chamfered pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice with panelled bases. The central recessed door has four moulded panels, with two glazed panels, and a rectangular fanlight above. It is set within a moulded doorcase flanked by Doric pilasters on fluted pedestals, and an architrave with a vermiculated keystone. A panelled tympanum displays incised decoration.
