Description

Dinelli's Cafe, located at Nos 5 and 6 on The Esplanade, dates from around 1840 and was originally two houses. The building is three storeys high and features a stucco facade. It has two low-pitched hipped slate roofs, with the eaves hidden by a parapet on No 5, which is raised into a low-pitched pediment on No 6. A moulded cornice runs along the top.

On the second floor, there are recessed sash windows, with the window on No 5 being slightly taller and retaining its original glazing bars, set on block sills. The first floor features flat-fronted bow windows with three lights, also sash, supported by pilasters that extend down into panelled aprons. The frieze and cornice on this level break forward slightly at the front. The ground floor has a modern cafe front.

Nos 1 and 3 to 14, which are consecutive, form a group with this building.
