Description

19 The Esplanade is a building dating from around 1840. It is two storeys tall with a semi-basement and is finished in stucco. The low-pitched hipped slate roof has eaves that are hidden by a blocking course and a block cornice. The facade features three windows, with two in a bow shape on the east side, set within a slightly recessed panel on both the ground and first floors, creating the appearance of flanking pilasters. The windows are recessed sash types with later glazing bars and block sills. A right-angled flight of steps, adorned with a cast iron balustrade, leads up to a recessed four-panelled door, which is flanked by pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice. Nos 15 to 20, which are consecutive, form a group.
