Description

No. 4 The Esplanade is a building dating from around 1840. It stands three storeys tall and is faced with stucco, featuring pilasters on either side of the ground floor. The building has a plain frieze and a moulded cornice. The central section has superimposed bay windows with three sash lights, which have later glazing bars and pilasters between the lights, along with a plain frieze and moulded cornice above. The first-floor bay has a panelled apron. The ground floor includes a late Victorian shop front window with three lights, divided by colonettes. This building is part of a group that includes No. 1 and Nos. 3 to 14, which are consecutive.
