Description

No. 8 Union Street is a building dating from around 1830 to 1840. It stands three storeys tall and has a rendered exterior above a modern shop front on the ground floor. The roof is hidden behind a plain parapet. The second floor features a centrally positioned superimposed canted bay with three lights, which are sash windows with intact glazing bars. These windows are framed with moulded surrounds and fluted pilasters that divide them. There is a panelled apron below the windows, and the second floor has a frieze and a moulded projecting cornice that extends to the sides before returning to the wall. This building is part of a group that includes Nos. 1 to 13 (consecutive) and No. 15.
