Description
No. 46 Union Street is a building dating from around 1830 to 1840. It stands three storeys tall and is constructed of painted brick. The roof is low-pitched, half-hipped, and covered with slate, featuring an eaves cornice.
On the second floor, there are two recessed sash windows with intact glazing bars and block sills. The first floor has one sash window similar to those above, along with a canted bay window to the right that has three lights, later glazing bars, plain strips, a frieze, and a moulded cornice. The ground floor has a recessed, blocked window to the left. The shop front, which is typical of the mid-19th century, includes windows of three lights, a recessed glazed door, flanking pilasters, a fascia board, and a blind case inserted in the cornice.
No. 46 is part of a group that includes Nos. 44 to 53 on Union Street.
