Description
Brookscroft is a substantial detached house built around 1760. It is constructed of stock brick and features a slate mansard roof with a parapet. The house has two storeys, plus dormers, and is five bays wide, with an early to mid 19th-century two-bay extension set back to the right. The central three bays are slightly set forward and have a pediment. There are steps leading up to the central entrance, which has a pedimented Doric doorcase, a trigliph frieze, and a six-panelled door. The windows are square gauged leaded sashes with glazing bars, and there is a thermal window in the pediment. A band runs between the storeys, and there is a modillion cornice. Inside, the house features a contemporary open tread staircase with turned balusters and carved tread-ends, as well as several fireplaces, with the one in the drawing room being more elaborate than the others.
