Description
The gates, gatepiers, and railings at Walthamstow Civic Centre were built between 1937 and 1942 by P.D. Hepworth. The main gates feature four piers made of Portland stone, which have rebated corners and are topped with polygonal metal lanterns. The decorative wrought-iron gates include spindle finials, and there is a central open work wrought iron pier with similar designs. The wrought-iron railings complement the overall design. The subsidiary gates also have openwork wrought iron piers and gates that match the main gates' decorations. These elements were designed as an integral part of the Civic Centre.
