Description

Schopwick Place is a house built in the early 18th century, with extensions made before 1776. It is constructed of brick and has a green slate roof. The house features a double pile design with two storeys and an attic, comprising five bays. There are steps with curved railings leading up to the central entrance, which is framed by a Doric doorcase with attached columns, a triglyph frieze, and a broken pediment adorned with mutules. The windows are glazing bar sashes with rubbed brick flat arched heads. The building has a plinth, a plat band between the storeys, and a stone-coped parapet. It also includes three flat-topped dormers and a steeply pitched roof with four end stacks and gable parapets.

To the sides, there are two one-storey flanking wings that appear to be later 18th-century additions, originally serving as links to pavilions; the left pavilion has been demolished, while the right served as stables. These wings feature plat bands over rubbed brick flat arched openings, with sashes on the right and a blind opening on the left, and both have coped parapets. The left wing has cement rendering on its return and rear. Attached to the right and positioned further forward are stables, now converted into a garage, which have two blind round arches above an opening and an oculus in the gable. The right side also features dentilled eaves. At the rear, there is a two-storey canted bay on the right and an upper storey addition supported by cast-iron columns on the left. The central entrance has a keyed arched head. The interior has not been inspected.
