Description

Ridleys Timber Cottage is a house that has been converted into three dwellings. It dates from the early 17th century, with alterations and extensions from the 18th and 19th centuries. The building features a timber frame that is covered with weatherboarding and has a tiled roof. It stands two storeys tall with an attic, with one bay for each property.

The leftmost dwelling, Ridleys, includes a shop window with an entrance to the left, all beneath a bracketed moulded hood. It has an early 19th-century pilastered doorcase and one window to the left. No. 108 has a similar doorcase with a 19th-century glazing bar sash window to the left. Timber Cottage features an entrance to the left with an 18th-century hood over a six-panelled door, and a 19th-century glazing bar sash window to the right. All properties have first-floor horizontal sliding sashes and early 20th-century two-light gabled dormers. The building has gable end stacks and a brick wall on the right return.

Ridleys has a hipped roof extension from the 18th century at the rear, while No. 108 and Timber Cottage have rear extensions from the 19th century. Inside, Ridleys features an axial ovolo moulded binding beam, a tie beam truss with a slightly cambered chamfered tie and an arch brace, and a clasped purlin roof with queen struts. The building adjoins No. 19 to the left.
