Description

This building, now divided into three dwellings, likely began as a house dating back to the 17th century or earlier. It was significantly altered in the 18th century, extended in the 19th century, and again around 1900. The house is timber-framed and originally had a brick and weatherboard casing, with a tiled roof. It has three bays and two storeys. The original main entrance is now the entrance to number 2, situated to the left of the centre bay and features a cambered brick head. A simple timber porch covers the entrance to number 1, on the left-hand side. Timber casement windows flank the entrance. The first floor is weatherboarded with two casement windows. A brick chimney stack, with straight joints indicating an English bond and a 17th-century chimney breast, is located at the left end. Another 18th-century brick chimney stack is positioned between the two bays on the right. A two-storey wing, added around 1900, extends forward from number 3 with an entrance and shopfront set under a gable facing the road. A further range was added to the rear in the 19th century. Inside, a ground floor wall features jowled wall posts.
