Description

NUMBER 35-37 INCLUDING FRONT GARDEN WALL AND GATEWAYS is a terrace built around 1830. It has stucco projecting bays, with a roof that is hidden from view. The building is two storeys high, with an attic and basement, and is arranged over seven bays: one, one, three, one, one. The central section is recessed, and the side bays are narrower. Composite angle pilasters are present on the projecting bays and attached composite columns feature in the centre. Entrances are located in the side and central bays, accessible by steps. Balustrades border the side bays. A central, pilastered porch is present. The side bays have panelled doors with overlights in architraves, supported by a cornice on consoles. Sash windows with glazing bars and margin lights are set within architraves, with pediments on consoles above the ground-floor centre windows. The projecting bays have a sill band on the first floor. A dentilled cornice runs around the building. The attic section includes further cornices and a central segmental pediment on a panelled base and flanked by volutes. In front of the building is a dwarf wall with patterned railings and stucco gatepiers with pineapple finials, complemented by side gatepiers with lintels.
