Description
This early 19th-century canal house is situated on Blomfield Road, facing the Regent's Canal. The building is constructed of stock brick with stucco detailing, topped by a stuccoed parapet featuring a heavily moulded cornice. Two stuccoed chimney stacks are also present. The two-storey south front, which faces the canal, is symmetrical with three bays. A central doorway has a four-panel door, flanked by single eight-pane sash windows. Above, a central four-pane sash is flanked by single eight-pane sashes. All window and door openings feature stuccoed flat arches. To the east of the original house, an L-shaped range of later ancillary buildings has been added, constructed of brick with slate roofs. The Regent's Canal itself was built between 1812 and 1820 under the direction of James Morgan, with supervision by John Nash.
