Description

Numbers 20 and 22, including their front garden walls and gateways, are a pair of houses dating from the mid-19th century. The houses are built of brick, faced with stucco, and have a Welsh slate roof. They are three storeys high with a basement, and are four bays wide, featuring two-storey recessed entrance bays on either side. Balustraded steps lead up to the entrances; No. 20 has a porch with a round-arched opening and a panelled door with impost blocks, while No. 22 has a similar door with a fanlight. The windows are sash windows, some with glazing bars, set within architraves. Decorative features include pediments on corbels above the ground floor windows, cornices above the first-floor windows, and keystones to the second-floor windows. Sill bands run along the facade and the eaves are modillioned and overhang. The roof has been stripped. The front garden is enclosed by balustraded stucco walls, which incorporate gateways with piers and lintels, and panelled doors.
