Description

A pair of houses, Numbers 24 and 26, was built in the middle of the 19th century. The houses are constructed of brick, with a stucco exterior. The ground floor is channelled, and the side bays have a vermiculated brick finish. They have a Welsh slate roof and three storeys plus a basement, arranged with six bays in a 1:4:1 configuration. The projecting side bays contain the entrances, which are approached by balustraded steps at Number 24. The front door has an overlight and is set under a flat, channelled arch within a pilaster surround. Number 26 has a canted bay window. The sash windows have sills to the ground floor and flat, channelled arches with keystones. The first-floor windows have cornices on consoles. A first-floor cornice runs across the front, and there is a sill band to the second floor. The cornice to the outer bays incorporates modillions. The front garden is enclosed by a stucco balustraded wall with gatepiers having lintels, one for each house.
