Description
A pair of houses of around 1700, with remnants of an earlier structure visible in number 1. The houses are built of brick with a Welsh slate roof. The courtyard elevation has three storeys and a six-window front. Each house comprises three bays but is planned differently. Number 1 features a central entrance with a six-panelled door set within a pedimented architrave flanked by Corinthian fluted pilasters. Number 2 has an entrance to the left, featuring a six-panelled door with an overlight in a moulded architrave with console brackets supporting a canopy. The windows are flush-framed 12-pane sashes, with moulded sills and flat-arched gauged brick heads. There are blank recessed panels above the windows in the parapet. Stone angle quoins define the corners.
The rear elevation, facing the garden, is three storeys and eleven bays wide, with curved gable ends and a long parapet concealing the roofline. The side elevation of number 2 appears to be of earlier construction, with brick and roughcast render over a possible timber frame. It has a steeply pitched roof and a series of axial stacks.
The interiors contain early 18th century staircases with turned balusters and moulded tread ends, along with some fine wall panelling.
