Description
St James's Cottage is a mid-19th century villa that stands two tall storeys high with a basement and features three windows. It is constructed from yellow stock brick and has a stucco cornice and parapet. The ground floor is banded rusticated stucco. The central bay and the corners of the building are rebated. The first-floor side windows are set in round arched recesses that rest on a blocking course of the ground floor, which also serves as a cill band for the first-floor windows. The first-floor sash windows have gauged flat brick arches and glazing bars, while the ground floor features segment-headed sash windows with corresponding glazing bars. The central entrance consists of a half-glazed double door flanked by attached, fluted Doric columns, topped with a cornice head and a low, patterned segmental fanlight. St James's Cottage is part of a group that includes Nos 3 to 41 (odd).
