Description

This is an early to mid-19th century pair of buildings on New Cross Road. The buildings are two storeys high with basements, and were originally designed with a symmetrical appearance, though No. 3 originally had three windows while No. 5 had two. They are constructed of yellow stock brick with stuccoed basements. The roofs are moderately pitched and hipped, covered with slate, and have eaves soffits. The windows are sash windows, some with glazing bars and some without. They are set within gauged, flat brick arches. The door surrounds have gauged round brick arches, plain fanlights, and reeded cornices. No. 3 has a four-panel door, while No. 5 has a six-panel door. All window reveals are stucco lined. Nos. 3 to 41 (odd numbers) form a group.
