Description

This is a group of early to mid-19th century terraced houses at 195-203 Brixton Road, London. The houses present a symmetrical appearance, with each of the three properties originally having two windows. The second and fourth houses are set back from the main line. They are constructed of stock brick, accentuated by panelled pilasters at the corners and between the individual houses. The original entablature has been replaced with a plain rendered parapet. The ground floor is finished with banded stucco, creating the appearance of voussoirs around a round-arched doorway and flat-arched windows. The upper windows have gauged brick arches and contain sash windows with glazing bars. Decorative cast iron balconies are present on the first floor, with matching area railings. Each house has a four-panel door topped with a cornice and a plain fanlight.
