Description
164 and 166 Brixton Road is an early to mid-19th century pair of buildings, each three storeys high with a basement and two windows. They are constructed from stock bricks and feature a recess on the axis with slightly projecting outer entrance bays. The buildings have a stucco frieze, cornice, and blocking course, along with a banded ground floor and basement, where the bands form voussoirs to the round-arched door and window recesses. The upper windows are set under flat gauged brick arches. All windows are sashes with glazing bars, and the ground floor windows have radial heads. Access is via three steps, which have an ornamental handrail that matches the area railings, leading to a six-panel door with panelled pilasters, a cornice head, and a plain fanlight.
