Description

This is an early to mid-19th century pair of properties on Brixton Road. Each building stands three storeys high with an attic and basement, and features two windows alongside a two-storey entrance bay and a lower, two-storey coach-house extension. The buildings are constructed of stock brick with a stuccoed basement, decorative bands, a cornice, and a parapet. The roof is a slated mansard, with round-arched dormers. Gauged brick arches frame the sash windows – those on the second floor have glazing bars – and longer first-floor casements, which are fitted with patterned cast iron balconies. Modern steps lead to later entrance doors, featuring reeded heads and fanlights. Number 190 has had its carriage entrance filled in, and a modern door and window have been inserted. Number 192 has had its upper coach-house window altered to a modern casement. The buildings hold group value due to their contribution to the surrounding area.
