Description
Nos 337 and 339 on Brixton Road, built in the mid-19th century, form an outlying pair that flanks a long, symmetrical terrace. These three-storey buildings, which include a basement, feature two windows in the main block and slightly set back entrance bays that rise two storeys. The hipped slate roof has a central chimney stack and bracketed eaves soffit. The buildings are constructed of grey brick with a stuccoed basement, and they have pilasters at the corners and center that extend through the main entablature at the second floor level. The sash windows are framed by moulded architraves, while below, there are panelled pilasters with console bracketed cornices. Access is provided by six steps leading to four-panel doors with plain fanlights, which are set back behind round-arched openings. Short side walls provide entrances to the backs of the buildings.
