Description
No. 55 Damgate Street is a house, likely originally with a shop, that has origins dating back to the 17th century, although its current details are from the 19th century. The building is constructed of brick and features a pantiled roof. It has two storeys, with a 19th-century panelled door located to the left. To the right of the door are two late 20th-century sash windows set in a disturbed wall, which probably indicates the former location of a shop window. Both the door and windows are placed under segmental arches. There is a rendered platband on the first floor, which is illuminated by a single horned sash window. The roof is steeply pitched and gabled, with an internal stack at the north gable end. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
