Description
61 and 63 Damgate Street is a pair of houses with a shop front, now used purely as domestic residences. They were built in the late 18th century and are constructed of brick with a pantile roof. The buildings are two storeys high with a dormer attic and feature three wide bays arranged symmetrically.
There are two central doors, each topped with segmental heads, which are flanked by an early 19th-century former shop display window. This window has renewed glazing bars and retains the remains of a bowed lintel at the top, along with panelled jambs. On either side of the doors, there is one renewed casement window with a segmental head. The first floor has one two-light and two three-light casement windows. The eaves cornice is saw-toothed, and the gabled roof has two flat-topped dormers that are lit by casements. Internal gable-end stacks are located at both the north and south ends of the buildings.
