Description
64 and 66 Damgate Street are two houses that were once part of a range of four, originating in the early 16th century with later additions and alterations. The buildings are timber-framed with brick, likely featuring an underbuilt jetty, and have a roof covered with black glazed pantiles. They stand two storeys high with a dormer attic.
The front features two 20th-century doors set within reeded cases and sheltered by hoods on consoles. Between these doors are two late 18th-century three-light casements that are flush with the wall. To the right of the northern door, there is a former carriage entrance to the rear, which now has double garage doors.
On the first floor, remnants of a jetty bressumer can be seen below false timbering, along with three early 19th-century three-light casements. A timber eaves cornice runs below the gabled roof, and there is a 17th-century serrated ridge stack shared with the adjacent No. 68 to the south. The building also features two flat-topped dormers with casements.
