Description
No. 21 Underwood Road is a house that was originally part of a row of buildings, later used as a shop, and has now been restored as a house. It likely dates from the 17th century. The exterior features roughcast render on what is probably rubble, and it has a diamond-pattern asbestos slate roof with a likely rear lateral stack. The building's plan includes two rooms deep, with a later rear lean-to and one room at the front.
The house is two storeys high and has a two-window range. On the first floor, there are two widely spaced windows; the left-hand window is from the 20th century, while the right-hand window is a late 19th-century horned sash. The ground floor has a pair of 20th-century hornless sashes with glazing bars located low down on the right side, and there is a doorway with a 20th-century door on the left. The interior has not been inspected, but a previous description mentions a rear pointed-arched doorway, and there may be other original or old features of interest.
