Description
No. 38 is a house located on Fore Street in North Tawton, dating from the early 19th century. It features rendered walls and a gable-ended slate roof, with two brick gable end stacks, one of which is rendered. The house has a two-room plan with a central stairhall and possibly smaller service rooms at the rear.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window front with original hornless sash windows. The ground floor has tripartite 16-pane sashes, while the first floor has a single 16-pane sash in the centre flanked by similar windows on the left and right. At the centre of the front is an original pilastered doorcase with a moulded cornice, which frames a contemporary six-panel door. There is also a mid-19th century four-panel door at the left-hand end. The interior has not been inspected but may contain original joinery.
