Description

The Clock Tower in North Tawton is a Jubilee clock tower built in 1887. It is constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings and features a tiled roof. The tower is square in plan and consists of three stages. The bottom stage has diagonal buttresses and stone weathering above, leading to the brick second stage, which has a moulded cornice. Above this is the third stage made of stone, featuring cusped heads on recessed panels and topped with a spire. A wrought iron weathervane and finial with a crown adorn the top. At the base, there is an arched doorway with the original door and benches situated between the buttresses.
