Description
Nos. 10 and 11 The Square are a pair of houses from the early 19th century, with No. 11 incorporating a shop. The buildings have plastered walls and a slate roof, which is gabled on the left and hipped on the right end. There are two brick stacks, one at the left gable end and one axial. The plan is double depth, with No. 10 being single fronted and having an entrance passage on the right. No. 11 is two rooms wide with a shop at the front, and its right-hand end extends over a carriageway on the first and second floors.
The exterior features three storeys and an asymmetrical four-window front, with one window for No. 10 consisting of original 16-pane hornless sashes. There are adjoining doorcases to the left of centre, which have pilasters and moulded cornices. No. 10 has a four-panel door, while No. 11 has an original six-panel door. To the right of No. 11 is a shopfront with a 20th-century window inserted. There is also an entrance to a courtyard at the right-hand end, over which the first and second floors of No. 11 extend. The interior has not been inspected.
