Description
Nos. 1 and 2 Victoria Square are two town houses that have been converted into shops. They were built in the early 19th century and feature stucco on studwork with a slurried scantle slate roof. No. 2 has brick end stacks. The buildings have a deep plan that was altered during their conversion to shops. They are three storeys high, with an overall three-window range, although No. 1 has a two-window front. The original windows are 16-pane hornless sashes set within moulded architraves, featuring shaped aprons adorned with shells and scrolled ears to the pediments, along with anthemion designs on the first floor and flat heads on the second floor. The façades include quoin strips and a mid-floor band with a key pattern. The ground floor of No. 1 has a late 19th-century double shop front on the left, which includes a wide central doorway and another doorway to the far left, complemented by panelled pilasters, consoles, and a moulded cornice above the fascia. No. 2 has a 20th-century shop front. The interior has not been inspected.
