Small house in row. C17. Rubble walls containing some C17 dressed fragments, with some render being removed at time of survey, limewashed rubble at rear; steep corrugated asbestos roof; rubble stack on left with brick upper part. PLAN: irregular plan with 2 rooms at the front with former passage between; dairy behind hall/kitchen on the left and central rear stair turret with winder stair to rear of passage, and evidence for former winder stair to segmental recess now fitted with window to the front left-hand side. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 2-window range. C20 horned sashes to ground floor; late C20 windows to 1st floor and C20 door to approximately central doorway. Rear has old wall surfaces and much character. INTERIOR: retains many features of interest including an old 1st-floor floor structure with a resited C17 chamfered axial beam and wide elm boards; a C17 splayed kitchen fireplace with chamfered granite jambs and a chamfered oak lintel; stone-nogged partition to rear of kitchen and C18 winder stair in a semicircular well. Roof structure not inspected but may be of interest. Some early features enhance the interest of this small house.
