Description
Muttram Cottage is a house dating from the 18th century, located on Boringdon Hill in Plympton. The building is constructed of rubble and likely cob, with a rendered front. It features a steep main roof covered with new slate, and a lean-to roof finished with slurried slate. There is a rendered stack over a large outbuilt breast on the left side and a brick stack on the right. The layout consists of a single-depth plan with a later wing at right angles to the rear, along with lean-tos at the rear and right-hand end. The cottage is two storeys high and has a slightly asymmetrical front with two windows. The early 19th-century windows are 12-pane, 2-light casements, and there is a central doorway with a slated hood above a 4-panel door, which has later glazed top panels. The interior has not been inspected but may still have original features of interest.
